Hi Peter I have just got the ST-62 model to use as a practise guitar and save wear and tear on my Brason. Same guitar as ST-20 but with slightly better pickups and different colour schemes etc. £79 !!! (Eu 111). Still silly money!! Should be Rubbish at that price but they are very impressive. I just knocked off Peace Pipe to give you some idea how they sound straight out of the Box - no trickery - just ST-62 - Q2 patch 15 - Joyo ACTone - to PC. app.box.com/s/eu47vjrqvem7xqpwtb84v11nm7trdc8fPretty aint it!!?? - cheers ian

Hi Ian As you say the ST-62 as a better spec to the ST-20 but good VFM Yours is a nice looking guitar and it sounds and plays well of course not forgetting the skill of the guy playing it.

Hi Sandra - cheeky! That's a real "Rufty tufty" He-Man sort of name! Lol! Hi Bernie - I think it's a real bargain. Straplocks? At eu4.88 (£3.60 ! !) it seemed daft not to. I have had a guitar drop off its bout button and crack the guitar body. Never again! Oh, and I bought a brown leather strap (yup! REAL leather) for eu17.80 (£c14.00). How do they do it? Cheers Ian

Hi Pete I was a bit rusty so its a bit "clunky" in parts but thanks for the compliment. I now have a problem of course. This ST-62 is such fun that I'm going to keep using it so now I need a practise guitar for my practise guitar! Lol! Cheers Ian

I wish!! Problem with the Thomann site is that it's like being one of those window-licking kids outside a toy shop - "Bags I this, Bags I that!!" Decent Tele for £96 ( lower spec one for £65) LP for £88 (lower spec one for £65). Oooooooh! Cheers Ian

I'm still really happy with my £56 Sue Ryder (Mark Griffiths) Tele. Okay, I spent a lot more putting Fender Custom Shop Texas Special PUs and a genuine Bigsby on it, but the original body is fine and the neck and fretboard are great. Action and playability, I have to say, are as good (actually better) than on my Gibson Custom Shop ES355!

J'know Noel - yonks ago, when Sue Ryder Shops in a rush of blood, brought out their namesake Strat and Tele, I hunted high and low for a Tele. Must have visited half a dozen SR shops during my travels at the time. No one had any! Or Strats either. I wonder how many they actually had made cos obviously ALL were sold. cheers ian

Hi, I've just bought 1 of these Harley Benton guitars, and the build quality really is jaw dropping, really well made from decent woods, great finishes, frets are so smooth on the ends it plays very nicely straight from the box (I had to ease the nut as the strings were binding a little and staying sharp when bending G & D string). I got it to use as a project guitar, my intention is to replace the PU's with something I already have, but I'll need to adapt them as they're a three hole plate. There's nothing wrong with the tone I'm getting, quite impressive for the price, and would be impressive on a guitar 4 times the cost. I have a Schaller Piezzo pickup bridge that I'd like to install, bit tricky as it looks like I'll have to pull the existing tunomatic bridge screws plug the fixings and redrill (could be really lucky and find the splines are the same or slightly larger). I've just ordered a couple of cheap as chips preamps to somehow fit the one which fits best on board. Got 2 strat assemblies to complete before getting that done (and a lot of messing around with poorly made but nice wood components). I thought it a Fine bargain at £120.00 I let my wife choose the colour to soften the blow. And called her in as manipulated finishes consultant for the other 2, and not 1 question as to why I need so many guitars, I think she's sussed that I'll have nowhere to keep them www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_sc_450plus_hb_vintage_series.htmKind regards, Chris

I bought one of those "Sue Ryder" Tele's when they were selling them off for £30 at the end. The neck on the one I had was fitted incorrectly & needed the neck re-plugging & pilot holes drilling in the correct place, the electrics were very poor as well (they did work though) when I got it back together it did seem to be OK but a long way from the ones people were raving about on the sites............unlucky I suppose as there didn't seem to be much in the way of quality control on this one It's routed out for 'buckers now & will eventually be my slide guitar. Dick.

I must admit my attention lately as been drawn more and more to looking at the Harley Benson selection of guitars there are one or two that appeal to me very much, it's one of those decisions about, I would like another guitar but do I really need it. Excellent. Do be prepared to find that the 20's come with ceramic bar magnet pickups, and very low end Bridge. However, as far as i can tell, the rest of it is as per the (slightly) more expensive ST-62s and ST-70. Having played my ST-62 loads now I am more aware of its sonic limitations but still cant complain for the silly money. Ian

Ian Thank you Mr.Plant I shall look up the said mentioned guitars and peruse the information about them and the fees necessary to purchase the said items.I was interested in getting one with the (quote) Bumhucker pup.I was away recently on a short break to enjoy the music of The Swinging Blue Jeans and Alan Lovell lead guitarist and vocals played a more expensive Fender version and I was quite impressed with the sound of it and thought I might indulge myself with a more cost effective model to enjoy. Regards Mr. Pete

Here's another one a bit dearer than the Harley Benton model it as the bumhucker bridge pup but it looks good and as some good reviews it's the : Yamaha Pacifica112V at about just over £200 Yamaha Pacifica 112V (Old Violin Sunburst) The industry's leading guitar is now even better value. Consistent best selling classic, double-cutaway shape with all the tonal power you need. The Yamaha PACIFICA 112 V represents amazing value yet the quality is everything you would expect from a Yamaha guitar. The Pacifica 112 V features a Premium North American Alder body and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Custom wound Alnico V pickups (SSH configuration) voiced for the perfect modern-vintage sound to give you a vast array of tonal possibilities. New improved tremolo, die-cast chrome tuners, and redesigned smaller pickguard. I would ask viewers not to drool over the picture of the guitar please Pete

As a follow on to the guitars already mentioned here is another one that is very popular and very good Value For The Money a little bit more than the previous ones unless you can get a good used one at a decent price but very much worthwhile looking at.I know because I have one and it is a very big favourite of mine although I changed the strings to 10-46's.WELL!!!! enough said here it is The Squier CV 50's Stratocaster comes in three colours Green, Sunburst and Olympic White. MORE ABOUT CLASSIC VIBE STRATOCASTER® '50S The Classic Vibe Stratocaster® '50s provides unmistakable '50s-era Fender® vibe and tone. The alder body is available in a variety of finishes. The vintage-tint gloss-maple neck has a maple fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets and a modern 9.5" radius. The familiar tone comes from a custom set of alnico III single-coil pickups, clear and bright, with terrific sustain even in crunch mode. Custom staggered polepieces provide improved string-to-string balance.
