My friend's dad passed away a couple of years ago and he has found this Vox 12" speaker among his possessions and was wondering what it's worth? Can anyone here help identify it and maybe we can work out it's value? LinkBTW How/Where do I host photos and upload them here so they appear in the post? Photobucket wants £399 pa to be able to share my photos! Phil.

Most of us are using imgBB now Phil. If you upload your picture onto your account, you can call it up and get the embed codes. When click on the 'Insert Image' link along the top of your post a box will appear asking for the URL. Paste your link into there and off you go.
About the speaker, most Vox amps now come with 'Special Design' (ie cheap) Vox speakers that aren't really up to much, so I suppose it depends on the age of you friend's model. At least it's Made in England, but going by the size of the magnet I doubt it's Alnico.
I bet you Dick can tell you more.

I've a sneaking suspicion he may have changed the speaker in his AC15 and this could be the original?
Thanks for the info on imgBB Len. I'll try that next time.
Phil.

Thanks DaveC, it certainly looks like the one on Reverb.com.
I only have the photo from my mate and the numbers are 125283 and below that 1382.
He sent a couple of pics of the front and I can't see any numbers on the gasket. I also asked him to look and he said the ones on the baskey are the only ones he could see.
Regards Phil.

Here's a link for more info about the Fane speakers/Vox connections www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/the-vox-fane-connection-for-those-curious.961541/I've spoken to the guy who had that Vox combo I mentioned on FB (15w head, 2x10 cab) that was imported back here from the US & he says that your spkr looks like the ones that were fitted in his setup that he thinks was dated 1985 I would guess that your 12"spkr would be from the Vox50 or the RM.AC30's as DaveC mentions. I had one of the 10" versions about 15 or so years back that came from a juke box guy. Dick.

Brilliant DaveC! Looks like it's 'worth' about £45-£50 if that forum link is recent.
And many thanks Dick.
Regards,
Phil.
